How to create Drive Mad games
Drive Mad is one of many games created inside the Fancade app by Martin Magni, avaliable on iOS, Android and Web browsers. Fancade allows players to create their own games using kits or from scratch, so get ready to create your own Drive Mad game using the Drive Mad kit and publish it for the world to see!
Getting Started
Let's kick things off:
- Download the Fancade app on your mobile device or access it via play.fancade.com on your computer.
- Head to the Build tab and locate the Drive Mad Kit in the Games section.
- Click the Edit button.
In the Projects section, you will now have your very own "Drive Mad Kit 2" to start with!
Navigating the Fancade Editor
This is where the magic happens! After you hit Edit on the first level of your kit, you'll find yourself in the Fancade editor:
On Mobile:
- Move around by using two fingers.
- Zoom in and out with a pinch.
- Use three fingers to change your view.
On Computer:
- Use the arrow keys to move.
- Scroll to zoom in and out.
- Hold the "o" key while moving the mouse to look around.
Click a block to select it and tap Edit to paint and shape it. Drag the block from the bottom-left of your hotbar to make a copy.
Make your car larger by adding more suspension and wheels. Ready to see your game in action? Press Play at the top. All your hard work is saved automatically!
Want to move multiple blocks? Just tap and drag. Sculpt new levels by moving or copying multiple blocks around at once!
Sharing Your Game
Once your game is polished and ready, share it with the world by clicking Publish. If your game is amazing, it might even get featured in Fancade's "New" section and be played hundreds of thousands of times!
Dive into FanScript (Optional)
Feeling adventurous? If you would like more control over your game, Fancade has a built in visual programming language called FanScript. This is a fully featured programming language built from script blocks which are connected together with wires. You can click on the "Game" script block and press the open button in the bottom right to look inside and see how Drive Mad works! You are able to edit all of these scripts to customize the behaviour of your game as much as you like.
And There You Have It!
You've got the basics down. To learn more about scripting, explore the wiki or check out this video. And don't forget, you can also use hundreds of other kits to make your games even more impressive!
