Drive Mad is a game created inside the Fancade app by Martin Magni, avaliable on iOS, Android and Web browsers. Fancade allows players to create their own games using kits or from scratch, so anyone can create their own Drive Mad game using the Drive Mad kit inside Fancade!

Creating the Project

To start making your own drive mad game, first you need to download fancade on mobile or open the web version.

Go to the build tab and then tap on "Drive Mad Kit" from the Kits section

Press the Edit button

You will now have a "Drive Mad Kit 2" copy of the kit in your Projects section. This is the game that you will be modifying to create your own Drive Mad game!

The Fancade Editor

After tapping your new "Drive Mad Kit 2" game and pressing "Edit" on the first level, you will see this screen. This is the Fancade editor!

On mobile, you are able to move around the scene by dragging with two fingers, and you can pinch to zoom in and out. With 3 fingers touching the screen at once, you can adjust the pitch of your view.

On web, you can pan with the arrow keys, scroll to zoom, or hold the "o" key while moving the mouse to rotate your view.

By clicking on any block and tapping the edit button in the bottom right, you are able to paint and sculpt. While a block is selected, dragging from the bottom left of your hotbar will create a copy that block.

You can expand the car by placing more suspension and wheels. Then press the play button in the top right to try out your new game! Your changes are saved automatically.

Tapping and dragging lets you select multiple blocks at once, which can then be moved or copied. You can use this to sculpt new levels to drive around in!

If you would like more control over your game, Fancade has a built in visual programming language called FanScript. This is a fully featured programming language built from script blocks which are connected together with wires. You can click on the "Game" script block and press the open button in the bottom right to look inside. You are able to edit all of these scripts to customize the behaviour of your game as much as you like.

This has been a brief overview of the Fancade editor, if you'd like to learn more about how to script your own games from scratch, you can browse the wiki further or watch this YouTube video. There are also hundreds more pre-made kits you can modify, which is the best way to get started making games!
